Leadership Transition: Welcome new leaders!

Hello COAR community,

My name is Wendy Zupac, and I will be COAR’s Programs Director for the 2008-2009 year. I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Political Science at Arizona State University, and my work with COAR ties in with my academic interests in public policy and international relations. I am very excited to work with next year’s interns who will be running COAR’s three programs. Short bios of each leader will be posted to the “Who We Are” section of the website in the coming months.

COAR is also saying goodbye to the following leaders, many of whom have worked with COAR in various capacities for many years. We wish all of our former leaders the best of luck with their future plans!

Annie Roethel, after four years as volunteer and young leader in various capacities, graduated from ASU May of 2008 and will be moving to Chile the end of the summer.
Ryan Sandell, after two years as a volunteer and young leader in the Reaching Higher program, is the recipient of a Fulbright award and will be pursuing studies in the Netherlands next year.
Sara Schwalm, after three years as a volunteer and young leader in the Reaching Higher program, will be studying in Moscow next year as a National Security Exchange Program David L. Boren Scholar.
Michelle Rupp, after two years as a volunteer and young leader in the Volunteer Anchor Program will be pursuing her Juris Doctorate at the Georgetown School of Law.
Dolma Roder, after six years as a volunteer, co-founder, and young leader in the Volunteer Anchor Program, as well as serving as Programs Director for the 2007-2008 academic year, will be focusing her energies on her position as Secretary on COAR’s Board of Directors and will continue to pursue her PhD in Anthropology at ASU.
Kim Hill, after 5 years as a volunteer, co-founder, and young leader in the Awareness & Advocacy Program, graduated from ASU in May 2008 with degrees in Biology and Society and Russian, and will be spending next year in Washington DC fulfilling her National Security Exchange Program government service requirement, and afterwards she plans to attend graduate school or go abroad on a Fulbright fellowship.
Tanny Men, after 3 years as a volunteer and young leader in the Awareness & Advocacy program, graduated from ASU with degrees in Political Science, Economics, and French. She is currently working in Beijing.
